Ingredients
  

  • 2 shots espresso or black coffee Freshly brewed
  • 4 whole figs Ripe, halved
  • 1 tsp brown sugar For sprinkling over figs
  • 1 pinch sea salt Enhances the figs' sweetness
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon Optional, for added warmth
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg Optional, adds complexity
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract Optional, for a sweet twist
  • 1/4 whole orange Zest only, optional
  • 1/2 cup milk Steamed, or milk alternative

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Arrange the figs cut side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Sprinkle with brown sugar and a pinch of sea salt to enhance the natural sweetness.
  • Roast the figs for 15–20 minutes until caramelized and tender.
  • Meanwhile, brew your espresso or coffee using your preferred method.
  • If desired, stir in cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, or orange zest into the hot coffee.
  • Steam your milk (or heat gently) until frothy.
  • Add 2 roasted fig halves to the bottom of each cup and slightly mash them to release flavor.
  • Pour in the hot coffee, followed by the steamed milk.
  • Garnish with a slice of roasted fig or a sprinkle of spice on top, if desired.
  • Serve warm, ideally with a cozy breakfast or brunch spread.

Notes

Figs substitute: If fresh figs aren’t available, use dried figs soaked in warm water for 10–15 minutes to soften before roasting.
Milk options: Almond, oat, or coconut milk work well if you're going dairy-free.
Sweetness level: Adjust the amount of brown sugar based on how sweet your figs are naturally.
Serving tip: This coffee pairs beautifully with brunch items like Baked Ham and Cheese Croissants or German Potato Pancakes.
Storage: Roasted figs can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated as needed.
