Ingredients
  

  • 2 teaspoons Roasted cumin powder Adds earthy, smoky flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Black salt Enhances tangy, savory notes
  • 0.5 teaspoon Regular salt Adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Dry mango powder Also known as amchur, adds tanginess
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ginger powder For warmth and spice
  • 10–12 leaves Fresh mint For freshness and aroma
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves Roughly chopped
  • 1 whole Lemon Juice only
  • 3 cups Cold water Or chilled water
  • to taste Ice cubes Optional
  • 0.5 teaspoon Sugar or jaggery Optional, for a hint of sweetness

Instructions
 

  • In a small blender or mortar and pestle, crush the mint and coriander leaves into a rough paste.
  • In a large mixing bowl or jug, combine cumin powder, black salt, regular salt, dry mango powder, and ginger powder.
  • Add the crushed herbs to the spice mix.
  • Pour in the lemon juice and cold water. Stir well to mix everything evenly.
  • Taste and adjust salt or lemon juice if needed.
  • Add ice cubes to serving glasses and pour the Jaljeera over.
  • Garnish with extra mint leaves or a lemon slice if desired.
  • Serve immediately for best flavor.

Notes

Adjust spices: Feel free to tweak the spice levels based on your preference. Add more black salt or amchur for extra tang, or a pinch of chili powder for heat.
Strain before serving: If you prefer a smoother texture, strain the mixture before pouring it into glasses.
Make ahead: Jaljeera can be prepared a few hours in advance and stored in the fridge. This allows the flavors to meld beautifully.
